Cooking At Guy’s Weekend Menu
Posted 03.15.2009 by thecookinghusband in Recipes,
So I am back from guy’s weekend and man did we eat! I find it funny that when guys get together and cook, it’s all about meat and very little about veggies. As promised in my post from Friday here are the best damn ribs you will ever have. My brother gave me this recipe and I changed it up from what he provided –you can do that too–adding or removing ingredients to suit your taste is one of the great things about cooking.
Best Damn Ribs:

2 cups light brown sugar
4 tablespoons onion powder
1 tablespoon dry mustard
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 can tomato sauce
1/2 cup apple vinegar
5 teaspoons Tabasco sauce
Mix all the ingredients in a sauce pan.
Now bring to a boil and then simmer for 20 mins.

I cooked one rack of ribs but this sauce is enough for 4-5 racks of ribs. So here is how to do the ribs.
Cook plain ribs for 15 minutes in the oven at 500 degrees.

Cool the oven to 350 degrees and flip the ribs over and brush on the sauce. You will flip and add more sauce every 15-20 minutes–total time in the oven should be about 1.5 hours, so about 6-8 flips.

For added flavor you can caramelize the ribs by putting them on the grill for about 3 minutes on each side which I always do.

And now for the plating:

Hey it’s guy weekend cooking, so I didn’t have to worry about how the food looked on the plate.
Tonight Jen and I are having a few of our friends over for dinner so tomorrow I will post the menu/recipe-be sure to check back!
Happy Cooking!

I love that you put cinnamon in the sauce for the ribs!
I agree, the best part about cooking is that nothing is written in stone! It’s so much fun to change things around to make something completely different or just tweak things slightly to suit your taste!
